Train Horn Warranties Compared: HornBlasters vs Kleinn vs Vixen
Train horn warranties compared: HornBlasters lifetime horns, Kleinn 1-2 years, Vixen 12 months, and what Amazon A-to-z really covers on budget kits.
A train horn warranty is the fine print most buyers skip, and it is where HornBlasters, Kleinn, Vixen and the Amazon tier actually separate. The length is only half the story; who pays shipping, what counts as “improper installation,” and where you bought the kit matter just as much.
Train horn warranties at a glance
Here is what each brand publishes today, pulled from their own warranty pages. We read the policies line by line so you don’t have to.
| Brand | Standard term | Longer coverage | Return shipping | Claim starts with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HornBlasters | 1 year | Lifetime (original buyer) on Shocker horns; 2 years on compressors and tanks bought after 01/01/2024 | Customer pays both ways | Email or phone plus photos |
| Kleinn | 1 year limited | 2 years where the product page says so (e.g. 6450RC compressor, Model 730 Demon horn) | Customer pays if no covered defect is found; labor and removal excluded | Email plus proof of purchase |
| Vixen Horns | 12 months | None published | Purchaser pays | Online claim form |
| VEVOR (bought direct) | 12 months | Paid Protection Plan adds 1, 2 or 3 years | Prepaid label once approved | Contact form with order number |
| No-name Amazon sellers | Often unstated | Amazon A-to-z Guarantee only | Depends on seller | Seller first, then Amazon |
The short version: HornBlasters has the longest coverage on the parts that matter most, Kleinn is solid but you have to read each product page, and everyone in the budget tier tops out at one year.
HornBlasters: lifetime horns, 2-year air supply
HornBlasters splits its warranty by product type. According to its warranty policy, Shocker horns (the Rocker Air Horn, Shocker XL and Shocker S6) are covered for the lifetime of the product for the original purchaser. Air compressors and air tanks bought on or after 01/01/2024 carry a 2-year manufacturer’s defect warranty from the original date of purchase. Everything else, including open-box and B-stock items, gets one year.
That structure lines up well with how systems actually fail. Compressors are the hardest-working part of any kit, so a second year on the compressor is worth more than a second year on a bracket. If you’re weighing HornBlasters’ kit lineup, our Outlaw vs Shocker vs Conductor’s Special breakdown shows which kits ship with Shocker XL horns and therefore inherit the lifetime horn coverage.
The catches are spelled out plainly:
- Customers pay shipping both ways on warranty replacement parts.
- Cosmetic damage (scratches, dents, broken plastic) is excluded.
- Accidents, submersion, fire and lightning are excluded.
- Products bought from unauthorized dealers are not covered.
- Installation and repair labor is never reimbursed.
That unauthorized-dealer line is the one to remember if a “HornBlasters” kit shows up suspiciously cheap on a marketplace. To file a claim, HornBlasters asks you to contact support at [email protected] or 1-877-209-8179 with photos, and it may ask you to send the product in for inspection.
Kleinn: 1 year by default, 2 years where the page says so
Kleinn’s warranty information page states that, unless otherwise specified, its products carry a 1-year limited warranty from the original date of purchase. The “unless otherwise specified” part is doing real work. Kleinn’s product page for the 6450RC waterproof compressor ($299.95, 200 PSI max, 100% duty cycle at 100 PSI) lists a 2-Year Extended Warranty in its spec table, and the Model 730 Demon stainless triple horn ($599.95, rated 157.8 dB at 150 PSI) lists a 2-year warranty as well.
So with Kleinn, check the specs table of the exact model you’re buying. If it doesn’t call out extended coverage, assume one year. Our full Kleinn vs HornBlasters comparison covers the rest of the brand matchup, and there’s a dedicated Kleinn Demon 730 review if that horn is on your list.
Kleinn’s claim process is email-first: send proof of purchase, your contact info and a description of the problem to [email protected]. If the part needs inspection, Kleinn issues a Return Authorization (RA) number with return instructions. Kleinn is also explicit that it will not pay for installation or removal, diagnostic fees, labor, vehicle downtime or loss of use. Exclusions include improper installation, misuse or improper operation, and modification of the product.
Vixen Horns: 12 months plus lifetime tech support
Vixen’s warranty page covers both Vixen Horns and Vixen Air products for 12 months from the date of purchase, to the original purchaser, against defects in workmanship and materials when the product is appropriately installed and used normally. If a claim is approved, Vixen will repair or replace the product free of charge.
The exclusions are broad: mishandling, operation inconsistent with the product’s design, exposure to the elements, neglect, irregular use, alterations and incorrect installation. That “elements” language deserves attention on a horn that lives behind a bumper, so our train horn waterproofing guide is worth a read before you mount anything low. Shipping charges are paid by the purchaser, and Vixen won’t cover installation charges.
The upside is lifetime technical support on all products. For a budget buyer, a phone number that picks up in year three can be worth more than the warranty itself. Claims start with the online claim form on Vixen’s site, after which Vixen inspects the item to decide coverage.
The Amazon tier: VEVOR, no-name kits and A-to-z
This is where warranties get murky. Budget kits are sold mostly through marketplaces, and the brand’s own policy may not describe what happens when you bought through someone else’s storefront.
VEVOR publishes one of the clearer budget-tier policies. On vevor.com, products carry a standard 12-month warranty, most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, and items with manufacturing defects or mechanical failures can be returned within 90 days of delivery. Once a return is approved, VEVOR emails a prepaid return label. It also sells an optional Protection Plan that adds 1, 2 or 3 years. The fine print: that policy page describes orders placed with VEVOR and does not address Amazon or other marketplace purchases, so keep your order details and contact the seller you actually bought from. For how VEVOR’s kits stack up on hardware, see Vevor vs Vixen vs Viking.
No-name marketplace kits are the weakest link. When we reviewed the Farbin 4-trumpet kit, the listing disclosed a 1-year manufacturer warranty, but the brand has no consumer website to fall back on. If a listing doesn’t state a warranty, treat it as having none.
For those purchases, your real protection is Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee, and it is narrower than people think. Per Amazon’s help page, it applies to items sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller, the last possible delivery date must be 90 days or less ago, and for a damaged, defective or not-as-described item you must have requested a return more than 48 hours earlier without the seller authorizing it. After three months, you’re on your own.
- Screenshot the listing, including any warranty claim, the day you order.
- Bench-test the kit inside the return window, not after install.
- Message the seller first and keep the thread; A-to-z needs that paper trail.
What no train horn warranty covers
Across all four tiers, the exclusions are more alike than the headline terms. None of the three major-brand policies pay for labor. HornBlasters excludes installation and repair labor, Kleinn excludes install, removal, diagnostics and downtime, and Vixen excludes installation charges. If a shop installed your kit, the second trip is on you.
Improper installation shows up in the Kleinn and Vixen exclusions, and HornBlasters excludes improper use or maintenance. In practice, that means a compressor that failed from running dry or with a clogged intake can be denied. Keep your install tidy and document it:
- Photos of the finished install, especially compressor mounting and wiring
- Your receipt or order confirmation saved as a PDF
- Notes on tank draining and filter service dates
Used-kit buyers take note: HornBlasters’ lifetime horn coverage and Vixen’s 12 months both apply to the original purchaser, so a secondhand kit usually arrives with no warranty at all.
A separate question is whether adding a horn affects your vehicle’s factory warranty. That’s a different law and a different fight, covered in our guide on whether a train horn voids your vehicle warranty.
Which warranty should drive your purchase?
Warranty shouldn’t be the only factor, but it’s a fair tiebreaker when kits are close in price and sound. Here’s how we’d weigh it:
- Want the longest horn coverage: a HornBlasters kit built around Shocker horns, bought from HornBlasters or an authorized dealer.
- Want a 2-year compressor: HornBlasters (compressors bought after 01/01/2024) or a Kleinn model whose page lists the extended warranty, such as the 6450RC.
- On a budget but want support: Vixen’s 12 months plus lifetime tech support, or VEVOR bought direct for its prepaid return label.
- Buying a no-name kit: assume the A-to-z window is your warranty and test everything immediately.

Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions people ask most about this topic.
- Which train horn brand has the best warranty?
- HornBlasters has the longest published coverage: its Shocker horns (Rocker, Shocker XL and Shocker S6) carry a lifetime warranty for the original purchaser, and compressors and tanks bought after 01/01/2024 get 2 years. Most other products from HornBlasters, Kleinn, Vixen and VEVOR are covered for one year.
- How long is the Kleinn train horn warranty?
- Kleinn products carry a 1-year limited warranty unless otherwise specified. Some models, such as the 6450RC compressor and the Model 730 Demon horn, list a 2-year warranty in their product spec tables, so check the page for the exact model.
- Does the HornBlasters warranty cover kits bought on Amazon or eBay?
- Only if the seller is an authorized dealer. HornBlasters' warranty policy excludes products purchased from unauthorized dealers, and its lifetime horn coverage applies only to the original purchaser.
- Who pays shipping on a train horn warranty claim?
- Usually you do. HornBlasters makes customers responsible for shipping both ways on warranty parts, and Vixen says shipping charges are paid by the purchaser. VEVOR is the exception on direct orders, emailing a prepaid return label once a return is approved.
- What if a cheap Amazon train horn breaks with no warranty?
- For items sold and fulfilled by a third-party seller, Amazon's A-to-z Guarantee can cover damaged or defective items if the last possible delivery date was 90 days or less ago and the seller has not authorized your return request within 48 hours. After that window, a no-name kit with no stated warranty has little recourse.
