How to Install a Train Horn on a Nissan Frontier
Train horn install for Nissan Frontier mid-size pickup — spare-tire-delete bracket, frame-rail mount, OEM horn fuse-tap, D40 and D41 generation fitment.
The Nissan Frontier is Nissan’s mid-size pickup, competing with the Toyota Tacoma and Chevy Colorado. Body-on-frame architecture with a winched spare tire under the bed; spare-tire-delete installs work the same way as on those competitors. This is a quick delta from the Tacoma install guide.

Frontier-specific install considerations
- D40 (2005–2021) and D41 (2022–2026) are very different chassis. Universal STL brackets that fit one don’t necessarily fit the other.
- D41 is fully redesigned. Aftermarket brackets engineered for the older D40 don’t yet have confirmed fitment for the redesigned D41. Verify with seller.
- Tighter envelope than full-size pickups — favor compact 2-gallon kits.
- OEM horn fuse layout uses standard MICRO2 add-a-circuit pattern.
Recommended kits
- HornBlasters Conductor’s Special 228H — $649.99–$749.99. Compact 2-gallon system fits the Frontier’s tighter envelope.
- HornBlasters Shocker XL Kit — $1,800+. 5-gallon kit fits with adaptation.
Step-by-step
Same procedure as the Tacoma install guide. MICRO2 fuse-tap to OEM horn — see /install/by-task/wiring-diagram/.
Common Frontier-specific problems
- D40 vs D41 fitment difference. Verify generation before ordering brackets.
- PRO-4X / Hardbody trim skid plate clearance. Off-road trims have additional underbody armor.
- Standard MICRO2 fuse-tap issues as documented across vehicle install pages.
Legal reminder
Same as any aftermarket train horn — installation legal, road use restricted. See /legal/.
