About HornBlasters

HornBlasters is the dominant aftermarket train horn brand in North America. Founded 2007 in Tampa, Florida, the company manufactures K5LA-style replica horns plus complete air-system kits (tank, compressor, valve, wiring) for vehicle install. HornBlasters also sells real recommissioned Nathan AirChime units, but their core business is aftermarket replicas at a fraction of real-Nathan pricing.

Output ranges from 142 dB (single-trumpet Outlaw 127H) to 147.7 dB (multi-trumpet Shocker XL / Shocker S6 / Conductor's 228H). All HornBlasters horns carry a lifetime warranty on the horn itself; air system components have shorter warranties.

HornBlasters models — by trumpet count

4-trumpet (147.7 dB)

  • Shocker XL — flagship 4-trumpet K5LA-style, 147.7 dB, $1,800–$2,200 complete kit. Best for maximum sustained output, single mount.
  • Conductor's Special 228H — 4 Shocker XL trumpets on 2-gallon tank kit, 147.7 dB, $649.99–$749.99. Best dB-per-dollar.

6-trumpet stereo (147.7 dB)

  • Shocker S6 — 6-trumpet stereo (4 chord + 2 stereo bells), 147.7 dB, $559.99 standalone or $1,219.99 complete kit. Best for split-mount installs.

Single-trumpet (142 dB)

  • Outlaw 127H — 1 long trumpet, 142 dB, $580 complete kit. Compact alternative.

5-trumpet 6-chord (Class 8 truck premium)

  • Rhino 544 — 5-trumpet 6-chord, premium build for Class 8 trucks. Higher price point.

Why aftermarket buyers pick HornBlasters

  • Verified output. All Shocker XL / S6 / Conductor's 228H test at 147.7 dB at 3 ft per HornBlasters' published methodology — same as a real Nathan K5LA's audible loudness.
  • Lifetime horn warranty. The trumpets themselves are warranted for life. Air system components (compressor, tank) have separate warranties.
  • Complete kits. Most HornBlasters products ship as complete install kits — horn + tank + compressor + valve + wiring. Buyers don't have to source parts separately.
  • Direct-to-consumer pricing. Real Nathan K5LA retails at $5,000+ for a complete kit. The HornBlasters Conductor's 228H delivers 90%+ of the same audible output at $650.
  • Customer support. HornBlasters is a specialty company; their support / install-help is high-touch vs Amazon-only horn sellers.
