About Vixen Horns

Vixen Horns is an aftermarket air horn manufacturer focused on compact-tank kits with bundled 0.5-gallon air tanks and 150 PSI compressors. The product line covers single, dual, triple, and quad trumpet configurations, plus marine-grade variants (waterproof) for boat applications.

Vixen's signature product is the VXO8805 series — a 0.5-gallon-tank-plus-150-PSI-compressor "complete onboard system" sold standalone or with various trumpet packages. The compact tank size lets the kit fit under the hood in places where a 2-gallon HornBlasters kit can't — notably the secondary battery tray location on GM T1 trucks (Silverado, Sierra).

Why aftermarket buyers pick Vixen Horns

  • Compact install footprint. The 0.5-gallon tank is the smallest "complete kit" tank in the aftermarket — fits in places where 2-gallon HornBlasters or 5-gallon Kleinn tanks cannot.
  • Under-hood install option. Per GM-Trucks.com community discussions, the VXO8805/3118 fits in the GM T1 secondary battery tray location (Silverado, Sierra) for completely hidden install — see our Chevrolet Silverado install guide and GMC Sierra install guide.
  • Mid-tier pricing. Complete VXO8805/3311B kits typically run $150–$300 — between Vevor budget ($80) and HornBlasters Conductor's 228H ($650). Better quality than Vevor; less than premium brands.
  • Wide retailer presence. Available at Amazon, Walmart, Hooked on Tronics, and Vixen direct. Easy to find replacement parts.
  • Marine-grade variants. The VXH1167BX2 series is purpose-built for boat install (waterproof seal, salt-spray-resistant finish).

Output reality

Vixen advertises its kits as "Super Loud dB" but typically doesn't publish a verified single dB number. Realistic output based on community reports and the smaller tank/compressor:

  • VXO8805/3311B (triple) — ~135–142 dB at 3 ft realistic, depending on use cycle
  • VXO8805/4114 (quad) — ~138–145 dB at 3 ft realistic
  • VXO8805/1101 (single trumpet) — ~125–132 dB realistic, single-bell tone

The 0.5-gallon tank limits sustained horn duration — typically 1–2 seconds at full pressure before tank pressure drops noticeably. The 150 PSI compressor refills in ~30–45 seconds. For continuous-honk applications (parade, novelty), step up to the VXO8350B 5-gallon kit or a HornBlasters Conductor's 228H.
