A note on the decibel figure. Wolo’s product page title still reads “125 Decibels,” and O’Reilly’s listing carries the same 125 dB number, but the spec table on that same Wolo page and the Amazon listing title both say 128 dB. We treat 128 dB at 1 meter as the current manufacturer rating and 125 dB as legacy catalog copy. Either way, the number is stated with a distance and a pressure, which is more than most competitors offer.   • Independent trumpet mounting. Each trumpet has its own bracket, so the set can be split across a crowded engine bay or frame rail instead of needing one large flat spot.
  • Light. At 8 lb for three trumpets plus solenoid, it is far easier to hang under a pickup than cast-metal locomotive horns.
  • True three-note chord. The 310/342/363 Hz tuning is a genuine low-range triad rather than three trumpets on the same note.
  • Low electrical demand. The 300 mA solenoid runs on a 3-amp fuse and 18-gauge wire per the installation sheet, so no heavy relay wiring is needed for the horn itself.

  • Modest output for the category. Wolo’s own Siberian Express and Midnight Express models are rated far higher, so the 875 is not the pick if maximum volume is the goal.

Install / compatibility notes

The 875 is a straightforward install for anyone who already has onboard air, and Wolo’s installation sheet is clear and specific. The main points, per that document:

  1. Mount each trumpet with the bell facing down where possible, at least 6 in from exhaust manifolds or moving parts. Use the base as a template and drill 5/16 in holes; fit the supplied rubber gasket between base and vehicle.
  2. Mount the solenoid in a dry spot away from engine and exhaust heat. The brass outlet fitting unthreads so the valve can be bolted to its bracket and rotated to fit; drill 1/4 in holes for the bracket.
  3. Cut the 1/4 in hose to length from each trumpet to the three-way air splitter, then from the splitter to the solenoid outlet, then from the solenoid inlet to your tank. Observe the airflow arrow on the solenoid body. The splitter uses push-in ports released by pressing the black collar.
  4. Never connect the horn to a tank that feeds air brakes or any other critical system, and make sure the tank is at zero pressure before plumbing it.
  5. Disconnect the battery before wiring. Run one solenoid terminal to +12 V through the supplied 3-amp inline fuse, placed within 10 in of the power source. Run the other terminal to your horn switch, and the switch’s other side to a clean chassis ground. Use 18-gauge or heavier wire if you extend the leads.
  6. Reconnect the battery, fill the tank, test, and check every joint with soapy water for leaks.

Because the solenoid draws only 300 mA, the horn circuit itself does not need a relay.
